Amazon Web Services Hands On Workshop

The Department of Computer Science, in conjunction with ACM and IEEE student chapters at GSU, is organizing a day long workshop on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We are excited to have Craig Williams from AWS, who is a specialist in AWS and a Partner Solutions Architect and IoT specialist. He will be delivering a seminar talk and a workshop on AWS over a day long workshop that will cover the following:
Seminar : IoT with Amazon Web Services – Learn about Amazon Web Services role in supporting the rapidly emerging IoT field. Dig into the details of the AWS IoT and AWS Greengrass services which are being used today across every possible segment from smart homes to industrial systems.
Hands-on Workshop: IoT Workshop – Get hands on with AWS IoT and AWS Greengrass. In this workshop we’ll setup these services on an IoT device, run through some basic labs and get familiar with some of the services AWS provides.
PLEASE NOTE: The hands-on workshop requires registration (free). First 25 participants to RSVP will be considered. The registration is limited to students-only. Kindly hurry! 
Event schedule:
— 10.30-11.30am: Seminar 
— 11.30-1pm: Lunch with CS faculty and students. This will be an interactive discussion session. 
— 1-1.30 min break. Preparation for workshop 
— 1.30pm - 4pm: Workshop (one coffee break in between)


Speaker's Bio: 

Craig is a Partner Solutions Architect & IoT Specialist for Amazon Web Services and is responsible for IoT architecture programs and workshops within his team. He has 25+ years of IT experience with over 10 years focused on cloud technologies. Craig has a Digital Systems Engineering background and ran a software and networking company in South Africa before working in London, Amsterdam, Belgium and now the US doing application development, system administration, networking, disaster recovery design and performance profiling. Craig has done a prodigious amount of architectural and coding implementation work for a variety of clients regarding: Cloud Architecture/Development, CRM, Inventory Management, Ecommerce, Reporting, Billing, Risk Analysis, Banking, Payments Processing, Mobile & WAP, Web Services, Database architecture and analysis, hardware infrastructure and many related IT implementation and execution fields.
